Welcome to the forum Ray.
These steps will help you:
1. Open (click on) one of the broad categories of the forum i.e. « Inspiration » or « Support and Suggestions »
2. Scroll to the bottom of that first page in that category
3. You will see the place where you can start a new topic of your choosing for that category
4. The meaning of « thread » concerns an ongoing conversation on a topic, as you have done on the topic « Delete my profile! »
