This thread is about THE WORD, who is a person.
For the Stoics, the logos was an aspect of God identified with universal sources of rationality and stability. This same concept has parallels with the Tao of Taoism, the dharma of Buddhism and the Aum of Hindu cosmology. None of those concepts are about persons either. It seems that John wrote about the highest concept of The Word (Logos) when he said it was made flesh.
As in this for example:
20:5:1 The Eternal Son is the eternal Word of God. The Eternal Son is the perfect expression of the “first” absolute and infinite thought of his eternal Father. When a personal duplication or divine extension of this Original Son starts on a bestowal mission of mortal incarnation, it becomes literally true that the divine “Word is made flesh,” and that the Word thus dwells among the lowly beings of animal origin.Lowly tadpoles, I mean beings, of animal origin.Lowly tadpoles, I mean beings, of animal origin.
We must refrain from taking phrases like “lowly being of animal origin” as insults from the celestial. We cannot let our origins detract from the fact that we have equal standing before God. We are humbled before God but not before any other persons of God’s creation because He is no respecter of persons.

9:5.7 The contemplation of the immature and inactive human intellect should lead only to reactions of humility.
It’s no wonder that God comes to our aid as a Thought Adjuster. His presence, along with the Holy Spirit and Spirit of Truth, elevates our minds to divine status, but only if we it desire it to be so. The actual presence of Deity within the mind makes the tadpole a potential prince.
But here we go off topic again. This thread is about THE WORD. Sometimes I think people are actually afraid of THE WORD who dwells within them. It’s unbelievable how the mind can create distractions for self-amusement when reluctant to face the living truth as an actual reality. The mind turning away from living truth can be considered a true weakness, an instability, due to the inability to rise above the animal tendencies of avoidance and procrastination built into the lazy primitive animal nature. (69:2.4;102:2.7; 132:3.3)
The living truth, the Way, the WORD, is the living GOD. When Jesus spoke of the living God, he was talking about personal Deity. The WORD is a person. Because the WORD is living, it is entirely unlike the Tao, which is although the way of truthful living, is not an actual person.
There are benefits in having a philosophy of living truth which centers on an actual person. Personalities can have meaningful interactions only with other personalities; personality is the unifying feature of selfhood; and, the dedication of the freewill of the personality offers the potential for eternal life of the personality. A philosophy of the mind which is not centered on Deity, a person, can offer none of these things.

115:1:2 Conceptual frames of the universe are only relatively true; they are serviceable scaffolding which must eventually give way before the expansions of enlarging cosmic comprehension. Yes, and that is why the Spirit of Truth is so immensely valuable. Our Master Michael knows how to think in a mortal universe frame. He is familiar with every human conceptual frame of thought. He is capable of influencing the mind to built the scaffolding, not only in the right direction, but with the right materials. I don’t think he is known as the carpenter’s son for nothin’.
We are given so many wonderful symbolic ways of thinking that it is amazing to encounter people who think backwards, those who build their scaffolding toward the material rather than the spiritual. We’re given every possible manner of assistance and yet some people insist on their own way. It’s sad to watch.

Me here: well said Sister. But, in truth, I find it very believable on a world such as this where we have had little direct, physical, celestial example on planet. Here, we are born and raised in a material world with little evidence (except within) of the heavenly abode and all its many citizen beings of such order and organization so engaged in planning, process, and purpose as we know of by the Revelation. We have two significant and related obstacles to reality alignment (which does require reality awareness): first is material attachment or being engulfed by that which our mortal senses “witness”; and second, is self attachment and self importance as opposed to self forgetting and service to others.
Now it is certainly true that the Adjutants, the Spirit of Truth, and the TA can overcome these obstacles in a willing mind which can see, perhaps unclearly so, the reality of love and its ministry through truth, beauty, and goodness and such a mind can find that greater reality by simply paying attention and discerning that reality of a paternal creator and resulting family of creation. Here’s a couple of my favorite quotes related to the “word” as lived by the Master:
(1223.7) 111:7.5 “Much of my difficulty was due to the unending conflict between the two natures of my subject: the urge of ambition opposed by animal indolence; the ideals of a superior people crossed by the instincts of an inferior race; the high purposes of a great mind antagonized by the urge of a primitive inheritance; the long-distance view of a far-seeing Monitor counteracted by the nearsightedness of a creature of time; the progressive plans of an ascending being modified by the desires and longings of a material nature; the flashes of universe intelligence cancelled by the chemical-energy mandates of the evolving race; the urge of angels opposed by the emotions of an animal; the training of an intellect annulled by the tendencies of instinct; the experience of the individual opposed by the accumulated propensities of the race; the aims of the best overshadowed by the drift of the worst; the flight of genius neutralized by the gravity of mediocrity; the progress of the good retarded by the inertia of the bad; the art of the beautiful besmirched by the presence of evil; the buoyancy of health neutralized by the debility of disease; the fountain of faith polluted by the poisons of fear; the spring of joy embittered by the waters of sorrow; the gladness of anticipation disillusioned by the bitterness of realization; the joys of living ever threatened by the sorrows of death. (1232.5) 112:5.4 Human beings possess identity only in the material sense. Such qualities of the self are expressed by the material mind as it functions in the energy system of the intellect. When it is said that man has identity, it is recognized that he is in possession of a mind circuit which has been placed in subordination to the acts and choosing of the will of the human personality. But this is a material and purely temporary manifestation, just as the human embryo is a transient parasitic stage of human life. Human beings, from a cosmic perspective, are born, live, and die in a relative instant of time; they are not enduring. But mortal personality, through its own choosing, possesses the power of transferring its seat of identity from the passing material-intellect system to the higher morontia-soul system which, in association with the Thought Adjuster, is created as a new vehicle for personality manifestation.
(1233.1) 112:5.5 And it is this very power of choice, the universe insignia of freewill creaturehood, that constitutes man’s greatest opportunity and his supreme cosmic responsibility. Upon the integrity of the human volition depends the eternal destiny of the future finaliter; upon the sincerity of the mortal free will the divine Adjuster depends for eternal personality; upon the faithfulness of mortal choice the Universal Father depends for the realization of a new ascending son; upon the steadfastness and wisdom of decision-actions the Supreme Being depends for the actuality of experiential evolution.

Another bold declaration of falsehood and judgment and criticism!! What is the written word which we share here together to learn the better how to hear The Word revealed within? What is its purpose? It’s source? It’s value? Plenty to consider. This text book provided to us is a dictionary of terms and definitions, a guide to the administrative organization which serves all ascenders, a description of our very source and our potential destiny, a guide book to the circuitry of mind, spirit, free will, and personality, a lamp of illumination to help the mortal mind in its dual nature to transcend the material and transfer the seat of identity, a thorough description of soul and how to fill that entity with suitable cargo for the eternity to come. It is a marvelous gift for those who would “utilize” it….which is far more than reading the words printed on its pages. It is Revelation, a gift to us….and not to be belittled and shunned as some may do. Filled with facts and truths for the discerning mind and ascending soul within. What a blessing to those who find it, read it, study it, live it, and are inspired daily by its beautiful presentation of universe reality.

In truth, I am a “disseminator” and my “teaching” is only in conjunction with my role as student….of the Urantia Book, life, people, and truth, beauty, and goodness. I am a volunteer with the host of this website and discussion site to assist a large and growing number of like minded students who give time, talent, and money to support the spread of this book to any and all who wish to have one. More importantly, perhaps, they also disseminate its teachings by connecting students and fellow religionists to each other in study groups, conferences, symposiums, and on this website for that group to both learn from and teach each other. There are many such organizations and individuals so engaged in efforts of dissemination of the Revelation to the planet. I only have a Urantia Book due to the tireless efforts of those who came before me who thought enough of these words to help spread its gospel…or good news, which we believe is an extension, clarification, and modernization, by epochal revelation, of that gospel likewise “disseminated” by the previous 4 epochal revelations. But I remain but a tadpole among tadpoles and only serve the eternal aspirations we share together. Devoted religionists working in harmony, learning the better how to love one another and do that which we are taught by this gift of knowledge and truth.
