    Interesting there was no need to write a law for Fathers and Mothers to honor their children.

    That’s probably because they were too busy sacrificing them, with honor.

    I think TUB uses the word “disrespect” rather than “honor”.  We’re not supposed to disrespect the wisdom and authority of those who know better than us.  Kids aren’t as wise as their parents – usually – [I know in my own case, my mother was the child and I was the grown-up.  But I still respected her (she’s gone now).]  Should parents respect their kids?  I think so.  They are personalities.  But I don’t think parents should always respect a child’s ability to make wise judgments.  And I think that’s the essential message of the commandment . . .  respect those with more experience and wisdom than yourself.
