leon14ParticipantDid you know that King Tut’s father wrote 12 of those psalms?
(1048.1) 95:5.7 Ikhnaton was wise enough to maintain the outward worship of Aton, the sun-god, while he led his associates in the disguised worship of the One God, creator of Aton and supreme Father of all. This young teacher-king was a prolific writer, being author of the exposition entitled “The One God,” a book of thirty-one chapters, which the priests, when returned to power, utterly destroyed. Ikhnaton also wrote one hundred and thirty-seven hymns, twelve of which are now preserved in the Old Testament Book of Psalms, credited to Hebrew authorship.
I had no idea

leon14ParticipantYes to be honest it will always be a personal choice, I’m against abortion when I hear of ditzy bimbos who get abortions because they dont want to be pregnant on a summer holiday at a beach resort etc. But I cannot condemn a woman having an abortion if she has been raped.
I suppose its between them and God, seeing how personal it is then who is anyone to intervene?
I’m more concerned with those in the abortion industry such as the hardcore feminist staff who seem to take a delight in providing abortions. This seems to be bloodlust.

leon14ParticipantApart from the Psalms, I dont actually read the Bible for the most part.

leon14ParticipantHi Bonita
I was looking for a variety of answers from various people, I used the search the UB function and found a reference to it but no specific condoning or condemnation edict. But mention was made of races going extinct in regards to primitive peoples, so I didnt get a definite moral judgment one way or another. But your quote got my attention because of Singer (who is also OK with bestiality) which also made me think – Is it possible that ‘bad guys’ have examined all sorts of religious/metaphysical/occult writings and have sought to hijack certain teachings or prophecies and create them in their image?
People will fight and die for or against abortion, just like they will fight and die for or against a world government.
We can see fanaticism in suicide bombers, the islamic wahhabi teaching is you get 72 virgins. Also your family gets a free pass to heaven, but the never mentioned part is if you die just as an ordinary muslim you will be conscious in the grave until Judgment Day. So you have the carrot and stick motivation but wouldnt you have a concrete belief? And if so wouldnt you need faith to enact on it?

leon14ParticipantWhy would a person invite such a thing? Put it this way there is no point being declared a world champion if you are a boxer with no one to fight, or a chess master with no one to play. Faith may not be an intellectual exercise but if the formula in that exercise doesnt ‘seem’ right there could be 2 reasons.
1. The formula is wrong
2. The answer is wrongIf the formula is wrong then the answer will always be wrong in the result you wanted. And if the answer is wrong then it will never be right regardless of how much ‘faith’ you have in it. If you have doubts because of what someone said to you, then you always had those doubts and just somehow masked them or employed selective amnesia.
And how can you have faith in that? When I recommended a ‘miscellaneous’ sub forum I did it with other ‘new thought’ adherants in mind, along with mainstream religions as well as basically anybody. Sure you will find matters of contention in regards to dogma of their religions but UB is not an organised religion like the mainstream ones today which are based on politics and simple greed and powerlust. However if the dogmatic issues are set aside then I think you will find that you and they will share many things in common; and the UB can be one of them. Until then less and less people will know about the UB and more and more if they learn about it will think its some sort of new age UFO cult.
Yes we may be born with faith, we might be born into an inherited religion on which we have no say; but we were also born with autonomy. Unless we exercise that autonomy then we will surrender it, and this can be seen increasingly among people without faith. They have no faith in God and no faith in themselves, and this is because of their doubts which they refuse to acknowledge and confront.
What is wrong in examining how other people come to their answers?
1+1=2 but so is 3-1 and so is the square root of 4
If your faith in God is absolute then what can anyone say or do to cause you doubt?

leon14ParticipantThanks Bradly, youve left me a lot to answer but all things should be out in the open and this is where thinking and conversation spring from. I’ll comment on the 5 paragraphs with numbers.
1. Yes the UB is over whelming at first sight, when I first encountered it I was a theistic Satanist and also had recently joined the Rosicrucians. I was addicted to ‘forbidden knowledge’ and had too much on my plate, I did not have a UB that I could read in my own time. In addition I wanted things ‘quick and easy’ as I did not have the knowledge to digest something like the UB.
2. Satanists break into 3 categories I have found
5% are just plain evil
5% want to practice the occult (that was my motivation)
90% are just desperate people in desperate situations3. Problem is that most people today want instant answers instead of seeking and judging for themselves, we see this in groupthink or hivemind. I became involved in Kabbalah because as a Satanist I was seeking to improve my ‘evil’. It was my intention to study Kabbalah and pervert it to use with my Satanist ‘magic’, but my study led me to realise that Satanism had no occult value in comparison. I realised I was practicing sorcery not occult magic and everything that I believed was based on untruths and lies (but somehow worked). The thing about being in the camp of evil is that you donot believe that you have chosen evil but just another alternative lifestyle. And yes, Satanists do believe that there will be a reward. But that reward is viewed as getting a slice of a pie, the more people who are entitled to a slice then the thinner your slice gets. Hence the encouragment of atheism, you might declare war on God but if you are not in the service of Satan then you are entitled to nothing.
4. God is above good and evil and when you look at it all Satan really does is offer you the option of evil. There is no compulsion to act on it, it is your autonomy or free choice to enact on it.
5. Actually its the writings on Jesus that I am drawn to, I suppose that I never really had much time for Jesus largely due to the ‘kumbayah’ machinations of the churches. Sometimes I wondered if the ministers of the churches actually believed in him, it seems that the churches devolved into racially based social clubs. Any message regarding Jesus just came across as hollow, commercialised and politically correct, it seems as though he had nothing to tell us.
But yes this is a UB study group and I respect that. I will download the UB or get a printed copy and take it from there, somehow I dont think that the writings will be totally alien to me.
Maybe I have just taken a long road around to finding it?If anyone wants to make comparisons about UB texts with the likes of Kabbalah etc… just contact me

leon14ParticipantHi leon14 – given your enthusiasm and experience, you might like to begin reading the first 17 pages. This is called the “Foreword”, and is designed to set the scene, and highlight some important bits. The remaining 196 papers serve to unfold the concepts (conceptual poetry) of those first 17 pages. Also, if possible, read a large format version, either on a big screen or an original hard cover version (26 x 21 cm). Some folks are trying to study these papers as stray paragraphs on tiny mobile phones… Welcome to the forum! Nigel

Thanks Nigel.
I remember when libraries here (Sydney Australia) had the Urantia book in most of them, but they seem to have been largely discarded. Not only the UB but other books that were hardcore occult/metaphysics only to be replaced by books on celebrities and cooking shows. Whether this is designed to dumb down libraries and discourage readers in general or not I dont know. But it is having this very effect. My email - [email protected]
leon14ParticipantI think I am recalling from the UB this bit of text (or something similar) – ” there are other worlds/planets [unsure] some are better than [earth?] some are worse”.
I’ve read the book several times and do not recall such a “bit of text”. Better or worse in what way? Do you mean in regards to progress in the stages of light and life? Regardless, this is not an appropriate discussion for this sub-forum. Since you are a new reader, perhaps you could submit your question to this sub-forum: New Urantia Book Readers
I assume it would be to all things, Ive tried to recall where I read it. Maybe it was a commentary relating to the UB ?
I agree it wasnt appropriate to post in this section, but thats why I think this forum should have a ‘miscellaneous’ sub forum. You will have more people posting if they think it wouldnt be unwelcome, after all wont you be stronger in your faith if it is challenged?
