Dear Friends and Students of The Urantia Book,
Urantia Association International’s Education Committee invites you to attend a live Webinar titled “Outreach/Evangelism: Audiences, Callings and Key Questions.” Marvin Gawryn will present this webinar.
If something has become a religion in your experience, it is self-evident that you already have become an active evangel of that religion since you deem the supreme concept of your religion as being worthy of the worship of all mankind, all universe intelligences. If you are not a positive and missionary evangel of your religion, you are self-deceived in that what you call a religion is only a traditional belief or a mere system of intellectual philosophy. 160:5.3 (1780.5)
How does a sense of “calling,” — the urge to reach out and minister to our struggling sisters and brothers —first germinate in our hearts and souls, and then grow intense enough to compel us to innovate and act?
Which “audiences” are we called to serve? How do our cultural backgrounds and temperamental tendencies equip us to best share “the gospel” with certain groups and in particular ways?
How do we conceptualize the essence of “the gospel,” so that we can effectively experience it in our own lives? And what words and phrases do we use to share it with others?
And lastly, do we quote The Urantia Book and attempt to share the text itself — or simply focus on its key truths —in our attempts to evangelize and minister?
How can we best “give the milk of truth to those who are babes in spiritual perception” (133:4.2), and still offer advanced revelation to more sophisticated seekers?
