Religious Habits – Eight Steps to Spiritual Growth

Dear Friends and Students of The Urantia Book,

Urantia Association International’s Education Committee invites you to attend a live Webinar titled “Religious Habits—Eight Steps to Spiritual Growth.” This Webinar will b presented by Mark Blackham.

All meaningful religious growth depends on our conscious and intentional decisions. This is true not just for soul growth but also for circle attainment and Adjuster attunement. Any progress in these three areas relies on our everyday decisions and actions.

Fortunately, we can ensure that we make the best decisions in all circumstances by developing good religious habits. We form such habits on a daily basis by making as many conscious moral decisions as possible and by constantly repeating these decisions over time. In this manner, we develop a “conditioned spiritual reflex” (see Paper 100:1.8, page 1095.3, and Paper 110:6.7, page 1101.2).

In this seminar, I hope all participants will contribute their ideas, meanings, and experiences concerning the eight religious habits mentioned in Paper 100 of The Urantia Book.

Habits which favor religious growth are:

1. Cultivated sensitivity to divine values
2. Recognition of religious living in others
3. Reflective meditation on cosmic meanings
4. Worshipful problem solving
5. Sharing one’s spiritual life with one’s fellows
6. Avoidance of selfishness
7. Refusal to presume on divine mercy
8. Living as in the presence of God.
