Reflections & Matching Gift Offer
Dear Friends of Urantia Association,
Eight years ago, Urantia Association International was facing the same problems faced by every membership organization across the globe. How do we get younger? How do we diversify our membership? How do we attract a new generation of leadership? To address these inward challenges, we turned outward.
We doubled and then re-doubled our conference efforts. We provided resources and training for local and national events while also introducing continental conferences in Europe and Latin America. These events brought forth a global generation of new leaders: Anton from Ukraine, Antonio from the Netherlands, Andres from Colombia, Collins from Ghana, Sebastian from Germany, Luis from Switzerland, Gabriel from Israel, Jeannie from Uruguay, Fernando from Mexico. Our message rang out in a chorus of languages from across the globe.
Continental leaders chose to work together on training and education projects giving rise to a mass expansion of study groups, conferences, webinars, and book fairs. In 2019 we had a record year hosting dozens of major projects spanning all time zones. The Association never slept.
And then the virus came. Would we crumble without in-person meetings? Would we become stagnant without conferences and book fairs? Or would we soar?
Within weeks of the world grinding to a halt, Urantia Association had organized our first 24 Hour global webinar. Shortly after this first English language event, it was adapted for the Spanish and French speaking communities. Study groups transformed, webinars expanded, and conferences went online. There was an explosion in Urantia themed podcasts and web videos. When the world changed wildly, Urantia Association adapted and thrived under the new pressures.
Looking back, we are grateful for the work of the angels. For seven years we were trained to become global, dynamic, and decentralized, gathering leaders willing to say “Yes!” to service and laying roots in cultures across the globe. We are now poised to merge the best of the in-person events and the web-based studies and to share with the world these Urantia teachings that we all hold dear!
