Combined Message from Urantia Organization Presidents

Dear Members of the Urantia Community,

A few nights ago, the presidents of Urantia Association International, the Urantia Book Fellowship, and Urantia Foundation met. Together we are writing this note because in troubling times it’s essential that we support one another. United, we will emerge on the other side stronger than we are today. The greatest affliction of the cosmos is never to have been afflicted. Mortals only learn wisdom by experiencing tribulation. [Paper 48:7.14, page 556.14]

There have been many emails between readers offering financial and moral support to one another. While the world’s news is filled with alarming stories, it’s also filled with tales of selfless acts of love happening in local neighborhoods. Over time, the good resulting from this pandemic will outweigh the current suffering. Could it be that the outcome of the covid virus is a different virus best described in Paper 100? If each mortal could only become a focus of dynamic affection, this benign virus of love would soon pervade the sentimental emotion-stream of humanity to such an extent that all civilization would be encompassed by love, and that would be the realization of the brotherhood of man. [Paper 100:4.6, page 1098.3]

With the canceling of study groups and community gatherings, we can still meet face to face. With Zoom and Facebook, new opportunities for building a healthier family of believers have arisen. For those of us who attended classes a week or so ago during the Association’s 24-hour study group, we saw our community come together to comfort and console one another. We’ll likely look back on these times and smile at the unanticipated growth which came to us individually and collectively.

All three organizations are honored to serve the Urantia community and are deeply grateful for your support for the Urantia Revelation. We are all challenged more than ever to practice the compassionate joy that the Urantia Book’s teachings bring to our lives. Please reach out to your local Urantia families and find time to bring relief to the isolated and disheartened. Take this opportunity to cultivate new relationships by joining one of the many online study groups found in the jointly supported study group directory. Or, participate in one of the many spontaneous web events that are emerging to bridge our physical distancing. Together, we are moving confidently forward.

May you stay in our Father’s compassionate arms and let his spirit flow through you to serve others. These are the days to feast generously on the fruits of the spirit. As our creator son said, “In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have triumphed in the world and shown you the way to eternal joy and everlasting service.” [Paper 181:1.6, page 1954.3]
